why this drawing
Ṣumūd means steadfastness: staying on the land, rebuilding, holding on. After the occupation of 1967 the word came to name an everyday, unarmed way of enduring — the decision to remain and rebuild rather than leave [1]. Raja Shehadeh's The Third Way (1982) gave it its clearest account: neither exile nor despair, but the third way of staying put [1]. Since 2025 the word has also been carried by the Global Sumud Flotilla; the garment carries the older, everyday sense.
The word is written by hand in ruqʿah, on the left chest only, eight centimetres wide, with nothing on the back. It has no dots, so nothing can be misread. At the nape, one line: steadfast · 1967 — the year the occupation of the West Bank and Gaza began, in the UN's own register [2]. No verb is attached to the word, and no slogan. It is a noun, and a way of living.
how it's made
Stanley/Stella Cruiser 2.0 (STSU177), 350 g/m², brushed inside, medium fit — a GOTS-certified organic cotton blank by Stanley/Stella, colour Natural Raw. Printed in the EU by DTG with one water-based ink, #4b463f, at 100 %; nothing thinner than 1.2 mm on fleece, no hatching. At about thirty reservations the drawing moves to a one-colour screen run from the ink-only master. A T-shirt version comes later: the word at 12 cm centre-chest, the date at the nape.

For every hoodie sold, FREE PALESTINE MEDIA S.R.L. gives €10 to a medical charity working in Gaza and the West Bank — named here once the written agreement is signed.
