why this drawing
Palestinian tea is usually flavoured with mint or with sage — maramiyya — and hospitality is the social core of the cuisine [1]. The sage is Salvia fruticosa, which grows wild and is especially abundant in Palestine, Israel and Lebanon [2]. The leaves go into the glass whole, sprig and all.
The drawing is two glasses, the straight-sided kind used in the Levant, not the tulip of Turkey: one with the sprig leaning out of it, one with a spoon. The second glass is for whoever comes. That is the whole design, and the quietest kind of steadfastness we know — a kitchen table, a kettle, a place set for a guest who may not arrive.

how it's made
Stanley/Stella Creator 2.0 (STTU169), 180 g/m², medium fit — a GOTS-certified organic cotton blank by Stanley/Stella, colour Natural Raw. Printed in the EU by DTG with one water-based ink, #4b463f, at 100 %: never black, never a tint. The three leaves are filled pale sage, #a9bfa1, inside their pencil outlines on DTG; a screen batch prints ink only. At about thirty reservations the drawing moves to a one-colour screen run from the ink-only master.
